Our story

Why WristIQ exists

WristIQ was created after a simple frustration: smartwatch buyers were being asked to choose between dozens of models, hundreds of specifications and marketing claims that rarely explained everyday trade-offs. A watch can promise advanced health tracking, a bright screen and multi-day battery life, but the useful question is more practical: will it stay comfortable at night, track a run accurately, survive a swim, avoid notification overload and still make sense for the price?

The project began in 2022 as a working notebook for comparing running watches, then became a structured editorial site as smartwatches moved from occasional gadgets to personal devices worn during work, sleep, sport and recovery. WristIQ now covers Apple Watch, Samsung Galaxy Watch, Garmin, Fitbit, Huawei, Xiaomi, Amazfit, Polar and other wearable brands with one goal: helping readers buy the right watch for their real routine rather than the loudest launch campaign.

We write for readers who want clear guidance without losing nuance. A premium GPS watch is not automatically better than a compact health tracker, and a cheaper model can be the smartest purchase when it delivers the essentials reliably. Every guide explains the target user, the strengths, the limits and the alternatives so the recommendation remains useful after the first headline.

Our team

A small editorial team with sport and technology experience

WristIQ is produced by a compact editorial desk combining product research, endurance-sport practice and consumer-technology analysis. The profiles below are editorial personas used to identify responsibilities clearly for readers; they reflect the roles behind our testing workflow: selection, field testing, health and sport analysis, price monitoring and copy review.

Our values

Independence, rigor, accessibility and regular updates

Independence means that a brand cannot buy a favorable review, pre-approve a ranking or hide a weak result. Rigor means that we use the same comparison structure across guides: battery, health and sport precision, interface, comfort, ecosystem and value. Accessibility means explaining technical details in plain language, including the consequences for runners, swimmers, Android users, iPhone owners, seniors, parents and first-time buyers.

Regular updates are essential because the smartwatch market changes quickly. Prices move, firmware updates can improve or weaken an experience, new versions replace older ones and availability varies by retailer. Our most important pages are revisited every three to six months, and we revise recommendations sooner when a major model launches or when a product becomes poor value because of price or support changes.

Independent verdicts separated from affiliate monetization
Repeatable criteria across premium, sport, health and budget guides
Plain-language explanations for non-specialist readers
Refresh cycle every 3–6 months for key comparisons

Our partnerships

Amazon Associates disclosure and editorial safeguards

WristIQ participates in the Amazon Associates Program. Some outbound buying links can generate a commission if a reader purchases after clicking. This does not increase the reader’s price, and it does not change our editorial recommendations. Affiliate revenue helps fund research time, hosting, content maintenance, price checks and the work needed to keep comparison pages current.

Amazon, retailers and manufacturers do not approve our copy, influence our scores or receive special treatment in rankings. We keep negative points visible, we include poorly rated watches when they are useful for comparison, and we mention cheaper alternatives when they are more rational for a specific reader. A commercial link is valuable only if readers continue to trust the editorial judgment behind it.
