More importantly, Polar still knows what serious athletes actually need. Training load, orthostatic testing, recovery insights, sleep staging, and heart-rate analysis remain standout features, and the addition of dual-frequency GPS plus offline maps makes the Vantage V3 far more complete for long rides, runs, and outdoor sessions than previous Polar watches.

The compromise is that this remains a sports watch with smartwatch extras, not the other way around. You do not buy a Vantage V3 for app variety or playful smart features.
